About

I am Emily Grace Goodrich, an artist and designer who lives, works, and learns on the unceded territories of the Songhees and Xwsepsum First Nations in what is now known as Victoria, BC.  I mostly grew up in San Diego, California, then moved to Kampala, Uganda, for nearly a decade where I worked as a designer for several organizations that supported Ugandan artisans. I’ve landed in BC with my scrappy Ugandan rescue dog, Neville, because of some random Canadian guy (now husband) I met online.

Up until Covid-19 crashed the global supply chain, I was working remotely with an organization that provides employment to women escaping human trafficking and oversaw the sourcing of jewelry materials in India, China, and East Africa. These days I have a day job and a hundred unfinished craft projects. In previous versions of life, I have been a barista, preschool teacher, data entry analyst, shopgirl, and even once had a temporary gig putting sticker labels on VHS tapes.

I love road trips through the desert and along the PNW Coast, train rides, finding cool free stuff in the alley, farmers markets and local restaurants, and connecting with makers of all different threads. I’m just getting back into making art and writing of my own after a bit of a hiatus spent creating designs and content for others, and am looking forward to finding my own voice again. My favourite things are traveling, mossy places, thunderstorms, bizarre documentaries, cooking, making, and books.
